I commenced yesterday a radical change in how I spend my day which has implications for then extent to which I am writing and the subjects of the writing. I shall revert to short timed notes on subjects which interest me or I have time during the day rather than attempting to research, reflect and write about matters which interest or art and entertainment which engages and which I want make a good accurate and thoughtful record.
09.10
This first note covers yesterday as well as to day, four national issues have dominated the news over the past week since the returning home on Monday, The most significant is the organised violent and murderous protests regarding a film circulated on the Internet which is reported to be offensive towards the Muslim God. How the film came to be made and distributed on TV merits investigation and my instinct is for some organisational influence even the CIA as a means to enable the USA to have new military leverage in response to the attacks on its embassies. At the same time the response has also clearly been organised by fundamentalists and orchestrated to commence with the anniversary of 9/11. I must do a piece sometime soon on the important new drama series The Newsroom and which had one episode on the significance of the assassination of Bin Laden for the average American (USA) and the organs of state and media.. The threat which fundamentalists pose to a free and democratic society cannot be underestimated. For the fundamentalist of all religions and credo’s there is never compromise and only violent defence is practical as the alternative to surrender. I wish it was not so.
9.20 The second event was the publication of the findings of the special commission established by the last Labour Minister for Culture and Sport to establish the truth of the Hillsborough killings and state and corporate criminal cover up. The aspect which I want to highlight at this point is that yesterday when I went to Morrison’s for Sprats I noted that the Sun, in an attempt to regain popularity in the City of Liverpool gave its front page over to the call of the a representative of the 96 and other survivors that the present Chief Constable of West Yorkshire should resign because of his alleged role in the cover up. Presumably he will say he was acting under orders, was not present at the corporate murders on the day, did not alter police statements or give orders for them to be altered. The issue therefore goes back to those in Germany who defended their behaviour during World War II on the grounds they were acting under Orders. No police officer who altered their statement albeit under orders and threats has spoken up for two decades not the senior officers present at meetings to organise the cover up and those who subsequently covered material for the Inquest, and other investigations especially the West Yorkshire Police Federation led to the lies and the criminality being covered up for over two decades. They thought they had got away with it. Now Justice is to unfold.
9.30 That David Cameron reacted as he has is commendable something which relatives of the unlawfully killed have expressed their gratitude to him. However whether he would have acted in this way, in terms of the right wing pressures within his own Party had not the Andy Burnham, the Labour Minister who was involved and now Shadow Secretary for Health is another matter. But for now he has acted in public and in advising the Attorney General that the Government while not influencing his decision whether the High Court should be requested to set aside the findings of the original Inquest and hold another or others for those who wish them, there should be no delay in reaching a decision, according to due process.
9.35 The issue which got me angry yesterday was the news that a French magazine had published photographs of the third in line to British Head of State and his wife when they were on holiday in France in a secluded private location. In my view this is just as important an attack on Britain and its laws as those who have attacked USA Embassies and while I clearly do not advocate similar behaviour against French Embassies, I do expect the French Government to assist the Palace in determining who took the photos and how they obtained the information on the whereabouts of the Third in Line and how the photos got to the particular magazine and why the decision to publish was taken.
I was pleased that after consulting lawyers in the UK and France the full force of civil law will be applied to the Magazine given the privacy laws that exist in France and the consequence should be a financial penalty which should the magazine close down, its editor and staff on the dole. I also demand that those behind this insult should be sent to prison.
9.40 The fourth subject is the mystery of the organised killing of two British subjects. The mother of one and passing French cyclist. With the attempted killing of their two children, one of whom was severely injured. This also has a nasty ring about it with responsibility resting with the French Police because of his location of the assassinations but where the official prosecutor has now stated following his arrival in the UK that the cause of the deaths lays in the UK.
9.45 Time to send a Text, have a cup of coffee and do some activity.
11.25 Having cold drink after activity. I am moving Artmanjosephgrech Development files from down stairs shelving to boxes on the second floor aptly named box room. This will free shelving space to place the black boxes with creative work overwhelmingly writings which must be of the order of the order of 20000-25000 pages. There will also be room for books which are bulging shelves. I needed to go into the loft area for the boxes sorting out those in good order from those that will require strengthening and those which will not be junked. The A4 card numbering and descriptions from the 2004 move are being removed and becoming development work cards. I will do about an hour a day until this part of the new day plan is completed. I also intend to go out into town or for a walk generally when the weather is good afternoons using my radio with headphones and the phone camera as assets as well as notebook and pen.
11.30 The news of the day so far involves an attack on the base where Harry Wales is stationed. An Italian magazine is said to be publishing more of the photos of the Prince and his wife. Damn them. Hopefully the law can also be used to stop them otherwise the Italian secret service could sue the Mafia as they have dome in past.
11.39 It is 40 40 Cricket finals Day at Lords. Hampshire my hate team because of their ground is playing new County Champions Warwickshire who has put them into bat. Later Sunderland is on ESPN with Newcastle on Sky on Monday so I will be able to watch both team plays live and assess prospects for the first half of the season. Warrington also has an important play off game. I will watch the early overs and undertake some artwork processing now that the drink has been enjoyed.
12 noon Completed sorting out and processing the move cards into the Development lever arch file while watching Hampshire have an excellent start until a good catch at the boundary changes the position to 48 runs for I wicket after 6.5 over. Ian Blackwell on loan from Durham is playing after it is said, unconfirmed that he cause problems in the dressing room saying that was not worth his place. He is on loan to end of the season and having played well it could be a permanent loan given hat it is also said his wife never settled and therefore Birmingham makes a better location than Durham. He is bowling now while I go off to make lunch.
13.30 Enjoyed two lamb chops with a vegetable mixture including broad beans, cauliflower and broccoli followed by black grapes. Watched Football focus which ended with a reference to Hillsborough and led to my speculation that I hope the Sunderland crown would join in Liverpool fans in calling for Justice for the 96 and perhaps the club playing “You will never Walk Alone”
13.35 I then stayed watching the Gateshead Newcastle City Games with a formal running track for sprints and a long jump track plus a mile route on both sides of the Quayside over the Millennium Bridge and the Swing Bridge. They have put Palm trees to one side and there are some yachts moored in brilliant sunshine so the scene could not be better. The crown is a good one but not as large as I suspect it could have been. I assume there has been good publicity on the local media which I missed. I might have been tempted to go as Mo Farah ran the first race a two mile event, but I would have has to rush back for the Sunderland Game on ESPN. I need to prepare to go out briefly to the supermarket for fruit tomorrow and kitchen foil and anything else I remember on my way and can carry
16.05 I am tired and have had difficulty in getting going again. Went to Morrison’s at 1.40 returning 2.30 with kitchen foil, three £1 carton of red grapes, a lettuce to go with pink salmon for Sunday tea and as inexpensive can of shave foam at 26p, just over £5. Before posting through letter box of neighbour in the adjacent Trajan Street a copy of the letter from Northumbria Water, having ha d a brief chat during the week proving the information of a problem in Trajan Street which the council has said there is no money to immediately address.
On return from trip I needed to relax on the settee and the Athletics from Gateshead Newcastle over I watched the final part of Nim’s Island. Nim is the daughter of an environmental scientist who has made their home on an isolated Pacific Island not disclosed to the wider World. When father does not get back from a short trip to get supplies, his daughter fearing the worst contacts the author of an adventurer stories that is in fact female and played by the Jodi Foster. On impulse she set out to visit the girl having been given only Latitude and Longitude readings. She is taken by boat to an island and their by a helicopter and the helicopter is forced by atrocious weather to put down on a cruise ship.
The ship has been to the dessert island for a kind of Family 20’s holiday day where they leave early because of the efforts of Nim to discourage strangers visiting. However a young lad with obnoxious doubting parents ignores his assertion about a girl being on the island but he contacts Jodi and on the strength of his word she takes to a Life Boat and heads for the Island in a fierce storm. Just as she capsizes Nim thinking it is the return of her father goes out with her pet Seal and rescues her, then expressing disappointment when she finds the author is not the adventuring hero she anticipated. The two become friends after the girl admits the likelihood that her father has died. However at this point he is spotted making his way in the remains of his boat and the two are reunited. He then discovers the arrival of Foster and the girl in a voice over indicates her pleasure in that the she looks as if she going to have a mother again as well as a father
18.00 Sunderland score in their first serious effort of the game which has gone for 30 minutes. There has been no crowd response to Hillsborough. Liverpool were dominating and looking the most likely team to score.
Earlier Hampshire won the 40 40 taking a wicket with the ball when only one run was needed for Warwickshire to win.
Enjoyed a dozen sprats in batter and breadcrumbs for tea, a cup a soup and followed by a bowl of cereal. I had a second can of Pepsi for the day. Both were outside the get below sixteen stone for Christmas plan.
18.10 The Irish Star has published the private photos of Prince William and his wife.
20.15 Yawning now after a brief dose while watching who is dancing with whom on new series of Come Dancing where among those of interest is Victoria Pendelton the Gold Medal Olympic Cyclist.
The Sunderland V Liverpool game ended 1.1 although Liverpool should have won because of the number of scoring opportunities. The visitors have had their worst start to the new season for several decades. Both gave the impression of teams still in the making. I cannot see Sunderland doing better than mid table. Newcastle game is on TV Monday and then their first leg European League game on Thursday.
Hampshire won the 40 40 game at Lords when Warwickshire failed to get the winning run required with the last ball of the day. The scores ended level at 244 but Hants had lost the fewer wickets. Bell was outstanding for Warwickshire with his 81 in 81 balls. Adams got 66 runs.
20 20 Watched part of the Dr Who at Mercy Western township. Did not get into this episode.
Have watched previous episodes in the latest series on the I player with one programme on a Dalek prison planet which the Doctor and friends were required to visit and stop the rogue machine beings breaking out. I cannot immediately remember anything about the two other programmes.
20.35 Taking a look at the X factor where among the aspirants was the daughter of Paul Gascoyne. Not very good compared too many of the others on the show.
At 21.00 it is the latest Montalbano. I will include this in another piece. I had hoped to also see how Match of the Day treated the Hillsborough report but I suspect I will need to go to bed after the Montalbano. Assuming that I also make the full programme. Put out the chicken to thaw for the Sunday lunch this afternoon so it will have a good 18 hours before going into the oven.
21.40 Had hoped to do some reading having acquired a year’s subscription to Time Magazine for £20. Too tired now so will play some patience Free cell where I have won 8075 out of 8093 games. Going to continue to 10000 which i achieved once before some two decades ago although then in sequence with lots of failures. This time runs of several thousands at a time!
Added note at 10.45 on 16th went to sleep watching Montalbano and did not see the end, went to bed and got up after a long night of Apnoea machine use at 9 15.
