There has been four weeks of political action and media attention which will change our approach to child care and protection, hopefully throughout the UK and its dependent territories and which culminated in the International appeal last night during the commencement of Commonwealth Games to put children first.
I present below a selection of the recorded moments in national and social media, and in Parliament which may be produced if considered helpful
I anticipate the next developments with be timed in relation to the publication of the BBC report on Savile, the remaining NHS investigations and the overarching report on lessons for the NHS planned for autumn and when it can now be also expected that the Home Secretary will announce the chairman, the members of the ongoing panel of inquiry with its terms if reference together with the result of the semi independent investigation into the missing files.
The next six to with weeks will also provide the police with the opportunity to conduct investigations into some of the historical and current “names!” away from the potentially damaging glare of media attention and to build up a national support and information system for surviving victims of historical and current crimes of physical and sexual violence.
The following list is not intended to comprehensive and it is hoped that through wide circulation missed items will be added but I believes it communicates the extent and nature of the change which will take place. The plan is to use the list to create a commentary on what has occurred together with expanding the content of some items.
