2346 Diary Sept 21st 2012. 20 20 Cricket on World Peace Day

21.30 Today Friday 21st September is World Peace Day. I ought to have known this and only found out after getting an email from Elton John‘s Org to say his performance at the Wembley Arena Concert was being streamed live on the Internet.

It is an odd event with appearances led by Jude Law, films and performances by 2 Cellos, James Morrison and Elton John. While the day and the org appears to have widespread official support from the UN who agreed on the day, message from the UK Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary it is difficult to find more out about the org, how it operates and is funded.

09.00 Put the bins out after coming down and successfully played games 31 to 35 of the latest run of level 3 chess with the target of 101 games. There was a disaster at Free Cell which I do not understand which comes about by ending a game prematurely which counts as a lost so I have a long long way to go to achieve a greater run than 3300 games previously attained and was caused by the decision to progress from selected game 1 to 10000 once achieved before but this time without losses and having progressed from 1 to 19 before the mistake I must go back to 0 if I am to be consistent and take greater care. I will finished yesterday’s diary checking and publish before commencing the planned programme for the day.

11.00 Checked the TV schedules and found England playing 20 20 World Cup cricket twice and Warrington in Play off Semi Final of Challenge Cup. Some good films with Anonymous. The Earl of Oxford was the Shakespeare Playwright? Still not caught up with Jane Eye and the Daniel Craig Girl with Dragon Tattoo is on Sky. Man U Man City Liverpool the football so will have to listen to Sunderland and Newcastle Games.

13.40 It is an hour before the first World 20 20 Cricket Cup game in which England play Afghanistan. I enjoyed a peppered fish with vegetables and a bowl of cereal for lunch. I watched the final part of Bargain Hunt where both contestants won small amounts and before this watched again the two programmes on Roy Orbison and his music repeated from last night while I sort out completed work and processed.

Watching the Violent Men with Glenn Ford, a Western before the Cricket. Arranged the Flu Jab with the GP Practice.

14.20 Read an interesting article on the effectiveness of the sanctions on Iran, yet the country has considerable resources and at least one supermarket the equal of anything in the West as well as designer gear and all the rest and trades with Russia and China. In China there is to transition with a new Order taking power although the evidence of is that having let in capitalism to drive the momentum of their industrialization and commercialisation they are now increasingly demanding their terms and limiting the freedom to exploit their internal market, What amazed me is the information that general motor have sold 1.5 million cars in China although in a few year the number of privately owned vehicles will, start to escalate. The Time article argued that the present tightening of position was counterproductive and not in China’s long term interests suggesting that companies would start to turn to other emerging markets with resources and low cost manufacturing. This is codswallop and fails to understand the future power of China whose internal market and that we satellites and friends will become the greatest power the world has seen to date. They hold all the cards and those in USA and Europe should not underestimate the implications of this.

14.30 Bob Dylan has released his 35th album in 50 years. He is now 71. Was also interested by a back piece on Tim Berners-Lee on the impact of him Internet world wide and the establishment of an index to determine its use. 95% of the population of Iceland are reported to be on line. I Phone 5 systems are on their way.
16.10 Completed the creation of Artman cards and registration of 5 Development volumes and a total of 36 sets. Enjoying the cricket.
21.40 The Cricket proved more enjoyable than expected although one sided. England were asked to bad and lost their first wicket in the first over, a maiden, as the ball bounced inconsistently and their opener had good pace. Luke Wright who then came in made 99 runs in 55 balls with 8 four and 6 sixes unable to become the first Englishman to get 100 in a 20 20 equally his colleague Bairstow who also finished on 99 although he was out. He was supported by Butler and Bairstow with cameo knocks which pushed the score to 196 at the close nearly 10 an over amazing given the slow start. Afghanistan was poor in the field dropping catches and questionable placements.

Afghanistan who had put up a good show India collapsed angst the force of Board and Dernback early on 2 for 2 14 for 3 and 22 for 4 and 5, then 25 for 6 and 26 for 7 and then 8. It was only a spirited knock by Naib who made 44 with 5 fours and 3 sixes who prevented the humiliation of the lowest recorded International 20 30 score. In fact they managed to climb over several others in the list including England by reaching 80 before they were all out. It was not a great test but augurs well given that England have won the warm games before this
I am writing while Elton John is play and having changed from the desk top tot he lap top the sound on the speakers is good and I can watch on the TV screen through the cable link putting off the washing up and listening to an audio of CD of he George Smiley book Call for the Dead which features Eleanor Bron as Elsa Fennan. I will do a piece after listening to the 2 BBC transmitted play.
