From Mathew 5 Burns and Oats 1956
Blessed are the poor in spirit; the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the patient; they shall inherit the land.
Blessed are they that mourn; they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for holiness; they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful; they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart; they shall see God.
Blessed are the peace-makers; they shall be counted the children of God.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution in the cause of the right; the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
From Mathew 5 Catholicism for Dummies 2003 and a small USA published Prayer book 2002
Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those that mourn; they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness; for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart; for they shall see God
Blessed are the peace-makers; for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 6 also reported on what are known as the Beatitudes
Blessed are you who are poor; the Kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are hungry now ; you will have your fill.
Blessed are you that weep now; you will laugh for joy.
Both Mathew and Luke reported on one further Beatitude.
"Blessed are you when revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men prosecuted the prophets who were before you."
Blessed are those when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets
