I am hoping the antibiotics have kicked in and this is not just temporary. I have consoled myself over of the past five days that the nagging pain was endurable compared to the ordeal of those caught up in siege of the two best hotels in Mumbia. What individuals went through is likely to affect them for the rest of their lives and is no different from what front line soldiers face although the majority of those suddenly confronted with murderous gunmen will have had had no training or preparation for such an experience
One should not underestimate the impact of the attack on the Taj Mahal Mumbia regarded by everyone who has stayed there as one of the great hotels of the world because of the luxurious surroundings and ambience and the quality of the service. To call the hotel a Palace was no exaggeration and indeed several members of British Royal Family have stayed there as well as former President Bill Clinton, and French president Chirac, rubbing shoulders with the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Jacqueline Onassis. If you have to ask the price you could not afford to stay there and one source suggested an average room rate of $680. If I was able to afford even a short stay I would make a point of doing so when it reopens just to show solidarity and defiance and I hope all those where staying at this kind of facility is commonplace will also take the same approach
I also hope the city will become a Mecca for young people from all over the world, of every race, skin colour and belief system, perhaps on the same day as the outrage at Mumbia began
I have tried most of my life to avoid medication unless it was said to be essential but this time I decided to try an over the counter pain killer Ibuprofen caplets 200mg, although a double strength caplets is also available Although a maximum dose of 6 tablets over three days is recommended the packet contains 24, and the first think to say is they worked and made a significance difference and at under £2 it was an amazing inexpensive solution. I nearly decided not to do so after following the request on the box that one should read the enclosing leaflet before starting a course and which listed possible negative reactions in certain circumstances. I had a haircut after purchasing the painkillers and asked the assistant who I have known from previous visits if she taken the tablets and read the leaflet. She said she never read leaflets so I went ahead when I returned home.
I have just enjoyed a cup of tea and two puff pastry mince pies in celebration although it is only six am as I have avoid having to bite anything for several days relying on soup, soup soaked bread, fish rice puddings and grapes, spitting out the skin of the latter.
Yesterday was not a wasted day although I slept twice once for a couple of hours later afternoon and again for four hours around 9pm thus messing up the body clock once more. Fortunately I decided not to listen to Sunderland’s home game against Bolton which they lost 4.1. Newcastle and a boring draw at the Boro which Alan Shearer dismissed as a non game. I watched a short part of Strictly Come Dancing and even less of the X Factor. I had gone out in a bitterly cold morning to post letters and to take a small packet to the post office to be weighed although I was able to use the automatic machine. Because of the weather and the way I was feeling I parked the car in Ocean Road and walked from here to the post office and back. The salvation army band was playing in King Street and the street was as busy as usual despite the weather conditions. I had left car at the roadside close to where there are the most attractive Christmas decorations I have ever seen. There are about a dozen medium size trees along the small hotels and each tree has been covered with tiny lights, white around the tree trunk and a deep blue comprehensively covering the branches, I was able to view the effect earlier in the week returning from the cinema.
I paid less attention to the 24/7 UK and USA news channels once the siege at the Taj Mahal Hotel was over, switching in the early hours to the press on line in order to try and collate the information becoming available.
I have one short list of visitors from other countries who were murdered together with two local officials.

I previously knew nothing about the Synchnronicity Foundation but there is an informative site as well as new site on which one can add expressions of grief and sympathy for Professor Scherr and his daughter, www.allanandnaomi.com
Synchronicity is a term originally credited as being defined by Carl Gustav Jung whose collective works of essays I first acquired in 1961 after they were published by Routledge Keegan Paul and which raised more questions than answers. The concept however is one which I have wrestled with without appreciating its definition and origin, although this does not surprise me because of the belief that in general all knowledge is inherited, but that new knowledge occurs from step by step rational thinking and the interaction of ideas generated from this process with what can appear random and unrelated thoughts and experiences. A process which exists separate from and in parallel to the thought process of others and which in my experience is not as random and unrelated as it appears, given my belief that within each individual there is repository of some, much, possibly all the experience of their ancestors that has been biologically transferred. Whereas some talk of the unconscious and the collective unconscious I believe that sub conscious in more accurate to describe the enormous quantity of information with has been registered within each brain but which is only accessible in varying levels according to the physiology and psychology of each individual.
My understanding of the organisation Synchronicity is that it concerned with achieving a balance between human beings and the earth planet, and a balance between human being of power and wealth available in this planet and created by nations and individuals. The foundation funds a wide range of projects throughout the world, many with an emphasise on children and young people. They who have cause such grief will be defeated through the sword and through love and understanding between everyone else.
